The village itself is beautiful with plentiful vegetation mainly in the form of olive trees and is ideal for those that love nature and the peace and quiet it offers.

The very traditional old village of Prines has only a few small shops, as would be expected of a small country village, but all your basic needs will be met with a mini-market, some traditional cafes and an excellent tavern about 100m from Villa Anastasia.

The nearest beach is Koubes beach which is approximately 4 km away, while the beach of Petres is only 6 km away. The big bustling town of Rethymno, at 6 km distance, with its wide variety of tourist amenities is a mere 10 minute drive away.
